A small group met Saturday to clean up Ball Ground Creek, and collected about 50 bags of trash.
“We were a small but mighty group of volunteers with a total of seven people,” Will England of Cherokee County Water and Sewer Authority said.
The city of Ball Ground and the water authority hosted their first cleanup event Saturday. The most common items found were aluminum cans and food wrappers, and volunteers also found several tires, an old pond liner, and construction debris.
“It is a good feeling to know you have helped your community and contributed to the beautification of such a nice resource in Ball Ground,” England said. “We look forward to more successful clean ups in the future.”
Jill’s Bakery and Barrell House Coffee provided breakfast for the volunteers, and Dominic’s Food Trucks and Dining donated lunch.
