Reinhardt University is offering two summer camps for high school students and rising college freshmen to build skills, one focused on nursing and one on theater.

The two-week Musical Theatre Intensive will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 15 through 28 the new University Theater, hosted by Reinhardt University’s School of the Performing Arts.

The intensive is a great opportunity for rising high school freshman through graduating seniors to display their talent and learn from Reinhardt’s experienced theater and voice faculty. This camp provides the opportunity for vocal coaching, acting and movement, masterclasses and concludes with a cabaret performance of “Songs for a New World” by James Robert Brown in the state-of-the-art black box theater in the University Theater.

Intensive tuition is $950 for students in grades eight to 12. Price includes evening meal. Scholarships are available.The application deadline is June 15, and payment is due July 1.

Reinhardt University’s Cauble School of Nursing and Health Sciences will host its second annual Camp Nightingale, a two-day summer camp for rising high school juniors and seniors, as well as rising college freshmen, interested in pursuing a career in nursing.

Camp Nightingale will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and will consist of activities to teach campers about infection control, first aid, how to take vital signs and perform CPR. Those attending will get the chance to participate in a high-fidelity simulation.

The experience also includes games centered around learning about Reinhardt University and the nursing program. All who attend will receive recognition for their participation and a CPR completion certificate.

Day one of Camp Nightingale will take place at Reinhardt’s main campus, and day two at the Jasper campus. The cost to register is $150 and includes lunch for both days, a T-shirt and all activities.
