Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency will be hosting its annual friendly competition fundraising event, Guns and Hoses, on Feb. 20.

The 15th annual 5K run/walk and fun run course is set at Hobgood Park, 6688 Bells Ferry Road near Woodstock, starting at the park’s main parking lot.

Check in on race day starts at 7 a.m. The running starts at 7:30 a.m. with the fun run, followed by the 5K race at 8 a.m.

The purpose of the run is to raise money for charity causes selected by Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and Cherokee Sheriff’s Office. This year, the charity for the fire department will be The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, which is a non-profit home serving boys in the state foster care system. The sheriff’s office’s charity this year will be the Cherokee Sheriff’s Foundation, which provides funding for charities and people in need locally in Cherokee County.

Register online now at www.crpa.net. Pre-registration for the Fun Run is $10 and $25 for the 5K run. Prices increase $5 after Jan. 31. When registering, participants will pick the team that they want to represent and a portion of the fee will go toward their chosen charity.

Shirts will be made available in the race packet for all 5K participants only. Shirt size selections are guaranteed for those who register by Jan. 31 only.

All one Mile Fun Run participants will earn a commemorative medal. For the 5K race, awards will be given in both male and female divisions and in a variety of age groups as well.

Dogs and strollers are welcome, but they must start behind all runners. All dogs must be on a leash.
