Holly Springs will commemorate Arbor Day scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Holly Springs Depot.

The Holly Springs Tree Commission invites residents to take part in its third annual Arbor Day event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Historic Train Depot, 164 Hickory Road.

Commission members will be giving away Crape Myrtle, Dogwood, Redbud, Catalpa, and White Oak seedlings.

City officials said the commission is looking forward to holding this event again this year.

“Last year, we gave out every seedling we had available before the advertised end of the event,” Treasurer Colleen Konwick of the tree commission and Arbor Day Committee said. “With each seedling, residents will receive instructions on how to properly plant and care for the trees they have selected.”

Officials added that no RSVP is required.
