Hickory Flat United Methodist Church will host education consultant Carl Hooker for a “Parenting in the Digital Age” seminar.
Hooker has been in the education field since 1998 and has held a variety of positions as well as learning through his own three children. He has a passion for education, technology and how they work together. He recently authored a six-part book series titled “Mobile Learning Mindset” focused on effectively incorporating technology into education and the lives of children.
Hickory Flat UMC is hosting Hooker on Sept. 14 for a two-hour seminar geared toward parents with children of all ages. The ticket price is $20 and includes lunch for ticket holder and lunch plus childcare for children.
Minister to Children, Nichole Hall, told the Tribune, “I hope that people can somehow find a balance between the positive uses of technology for their kids and the negative uses such as too much screen time and the safety factors that come with technology and the Internet.”
Parenting in the Digital Age with Carl Hooker will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Hickory Flat UMC, 4056 East Cherokee Drive.
