Grammy nominated artist and lifelong lover of all things “boogie-woogie,” Victor Wainwright is bringing his soulful, hilarious and innovative tour to Connect Live in Woodstock on May 16.

Often called the “Piana from Savannah,” Georgia native Victor Wainwright has found himself a top Billboard music charts, a Grammy nominee, winner of the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player Award and the winner of multiple Blues Blast awards. After growing up in a musical family and finding his own passion for music, Wainwright knows how to put on a show that will get the audience up and grooving.

Wainwright’s newest album, “Victor Wainwright and the Train,” features a twist on boogie-woogie tradition and is driven by his innovative piano style. As a composer, producer, vocalist, piano player and entertainer, Wainwright takes pride in his unique sound, well-developed lyrics and innovative artistry.

“I wanted to write this new music mostly on my own as it was coming and speaking to me,” Wainwright said. “I believe that for roots music to grow and reach new audiences, we have to push it forward.”

An album that is referred to as a “musical cocktail” in its ability to bring together Latin flavors, New Orleans horns and fearlessly explore the idea of a set genre. With the help of his band, featuring guitarist Pat Harrington, bass player Terrence Grayson and drummer Billy Dean, Victor Wainwright and the Train deliver a sound that will not soon be forgotten.

“I ended up with a hit-squad of downright amazing musicians that shared my curiosity for all corners of the roots genre,” Wainwright said. “We wanted to capture how we feel performing, right smack-dab on this record, and I believe we’ve done that. Now I just try to keep up.”

Victor Wainwright and the Train can be seen live in concert at 7 p.m., May 16 at Connect Live, 6835 Victory Drive, Woodstock. Tickets are $25. For more information, visit or call 678-851-9275.
