Cats at the Cherokee County Animal Shelter have 100 new toys to play with until they are reunited with their families or adopted into new homes, thanks to a local Girl Scout troop.

Riverwood Girl Scout Troop 12404 started the school year with making 100 toys — with catnip — for he shelter and donated them Saturday.

“Our girls worked hard to create these awesome cat toys for needy cats at the shelter,” troop leader Shannon Landon said in a statement. “We love helping our community!”
