The Mill on Etowah is kicking off summer with the first Upriver Festival 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 4 in downtown Canton, to benefit children in foster care.
The one-day Upriver Festival will include many activities during the day including a 5K race through downtown Canton benefiting Goshen Valley, live music, food vendors, and more.
“It is benefiting Goshen Valley which is a Cherokee County foster program, so all proceeds are going to Goshen Valley because they have a corporate office at The Mill,” event coordinator Haley Clark said of the festival.
Clark said there are plans to make the Upriver Festival an annual event.
“It’s really a great kick-off to the summer kind of festival for families who have endured a long year and to get out with their family and enjoy some good music, good food, and a good community,” Clark said.
Additionally, the Mill on Etowah will be highlighting “A Cold One,” a pilsner by Reformation Brewery and 97.1 The River.
The festival will have a pet zone, and dogs will be available for adoption.
To register for the 5K run/walk, visit runsignup.com, click on the “Find a race” button, search “Goshen Valley Run”, and then click “sign-up.”
The 5K run/walk is from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Registration for the 5K is $40 before June 4; participants can sign up the day of the event until 6 a.m. for $45.
Additionally, if guests rather not walk or run, there is a “ghost participant option”, where individuals will receive a T-shirt for $35.
Nomadic Flow Outfitters will have tubing rentals from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Mill on Etowah.
The Mill on Etowah is located at 225 Reformation Parkway in Canton.
The event is not related to last year’s Upriver Fitness Festival.
