Bizarre Coffee opened this month, bringing a blend of art and coffee flavors to downtown Canton.

The shop, which offers a variety of coffee flavors, as well as breakfast, lunch, and drink options, is a culmination of a dream that co-owner and creator Sabrina Kaylor had that would allow her to unite her love for coffee and abstract art.

“Working in coffee and owning a coffee shop was something I had wanted to do for around a decade now,” Kaylor said. “About three or four years ago I was doing electronic commerce for a coffee roaster, which is where I got to experience specialty craft coffee, which strengthened my love for coffee and solidified everything I had ever wanted to do in the business.”

Art is a big part of Kaylor’s life and her business as well.

“I am also an abstract artist who likes to use a bright and funky style to create art that is hard to explain,” she said. “I would showcase my art in Atlanta, but part of me felt like it didn’t fit in, so I started toying with the idea of combining my love for coffee with my love for art.”

The shop offers coffee flavors from different areas of the world, including Africa, South America, and Central America. The coffee flavors come in bags with Kaylor’s art from over the years specially designed on the labels. She also sells her art and coffee prints, which Kaylor said helps to play into the artistic style of the shop.

Aside from the coffee flavors and the art, the shop also offers a number of breakfast and lunch items. Some of the breakfast items include bagels, a breakfast burrito, and avocado toast, to name a few. Lunch items consist of favorites like the avocado turkey BLT, grilled cheese, and the ham and havarti party, to name a few. The shop also offers smoothie bowls, like the Nutter Butter Bowl, iced drinks, non-coffee drinks, and specialty drinks. Kaylor added that the menu changes from time to time, but the customer favorites will stay.

Bizarre Coffee is designed to be a grab-and-go, but Kaylor said she and her husband would like to eventually provide an area for customers to sit and relax while they enjoy their coffee or food.

“There is an upstairs loft that is currently being worked on that can seat some people, and we would like to have an area that allows full seating, which would hopefully be available in the coming months,” she said. “We want to impact somebody’s day when they take that first sip of coffee, and we want people to stay and have a great time when they visit our shop or drink our coffee. Canton is the perfect place for Bizarre Coffee for this reason. The community has welcomed us with open arms and made us feel accepted.”

Sabrina’s husband and co-owner Michael Kaylor said the couple were meant to open the shop.

“We use coffee as the tool to make people happy,” he said. “Anybody who walks through our doors, by the time they leave, their day has been made.”
