The annual Cherokee County Agricultural Expo is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Hickory Flat Fellowship Church, 5301 Hickory Flat Highway, Canton.
With more than 250,000 people calling Cherokee County home, local Farm Bureau President William Grizzle encouraged new residents to join the regulars and make it a point to visit the expo.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet the local farmers and vendors to see what we have in this county,” Grizzle said Monday.
The Cherokee County Farm Bureau Agriculture Expo is co-sponsored with Cherokee County Extension Office, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and the city of Woodstock.
Visitors will find 30 agriculture booths, many of which are school/student friendly, including displays of farm tractors.
Activities for children include Farmer Sue and The Art Barn Crew from Morning Glory Farm will be at expo with several of her furry and feathery friends to celebrate Art, Animals, Agriculture and Education, the Farm Bureau’s Shirley Pahl said.
In addition, the expo includes games for children, door prizes and the opportunity sample and purchase locally grown foods, plants, animals and hand-crafted products.
Georgia Grown, Farmers Markets, 4-H, FFA, Master Gardeners, Georgia Farm Bureau Commodities, School Nutrition and Farm to School will have booths at the Expo. Cherokee Master Gardeners will conduct classes for attendees to learn about gardening.
