However, with Purdue’s first-round elimination, the ‘22 Big Ten Player of the Year must focus his attention on if he will leave college and pursue the NBA or remain a part of the Boilermakers’ program next season.
After Friday’s loss, the junior center told reporters that he currently has “no idea” what his basketball future looks like.
“I want to come back and I want to go to war with them [Purdue teammates], but at the end of the day I have to make the decision for me,” Edey said, per The Indianapolis Star. “I have no idea how long my career is going to last.”
Edey averaged 22.3 points and 12.9 rebounds per game this season while aiding the Boilermakers to a Big Ten regular season championship as well as a tournament title. While Edey increased his draft stock in catapulting the Boilermakers to a No. 1 seed in this year’s men’s NCAA tournament, Purdue holds a special place in the heart of the 7’4” center.
“If there was no money involved, I would come back to Purdue in a heartbeat,” Edey said, per the Star. “It’d be a no brainer. This is my favorite locker room I’ve ever been in. Ever.”
With the Boilermakers tournament run derailed, Edey has the ultimate decision to make.
